Wound Infections

                                         1.                                          2.                                              3.

Pictures of number 1,2,3 are not wound infections.  Picture No. 1 has some redness which is inflammation, this is not uncommon, especially on the legs.  There is also a yellowish sticky surface which represents fibrinoid exudate, which is also normal.  Picture No. 2 is an allergic reaction to the adhesive from the bandage.  Picture No. 3 has some weeping of tissue fluid, this and the slight redness from the bandage is normal.

                                                                  4.                                             5.

Pictures 4 and 5 are early would infections.  Notice the widespread redness and the swelling.  These sites are warm and tender to the touch.

Please contact our office if you think you may have a wound infection
